Fall 2011 – A Look Back

The Alpha Lambda Chapter firmly established itself at the beginning of the semester by recruiting 37 pledges, the largest among fraternities this fall and largest in the history of the Alpha Lambda Chapter. The pledge process is well underway, and the Chapter is eagerly looking forward to initiating these men in early December.

As always, Alpha Lambda remained busy in the fall, beginning with the Kevin Cleary Memorial BBQ held on September 11. T-Shirts were made and sold by New York City native Jeff Stone ’13 and, along with proceeds from the BBQ, the Chapter was able to raise nearly $1000 for the Kevin Cleary Foundation. The Alpha Lambda Chapter hopes that this BBQ will become an enduring tradition for years to come.

Alpha Lambda also participated in Mission 365 in late October with new Grand Praetor Rick Lewandowski. The Chapter was able to pick up new techniques that will enhance the recruitment process and allow us to rush the best men possible. We are sure that these strategies will help us bring in a great pledge class this spring.

The Alpha Lambda Chapter had an eventful and enjoyable social semester this fall as well, packed with socials with sororities as well as football pregames. We hope those alumni who came back for the highly anticipated Nebraska game had a fun evening, and we hope those in attendance before the Homecoming football game had a nice time as well. The actives in the house definitely enjoyed hearing all the stories told by the alumni from their times in the Chapter house, most of which probably should not be written out!

As the end of the semester draws near, the house will be preparing for the initiation of 37 new gentlemen. Right after the ceremony, the house will travel to Chicago to celebrate for its fall formal. A strong executive board will take over in the spring, led by Consul Mitch Hoffman ’13. The Chapter will strive to continue recruiting quality new gentlemen and maintaining our strong tradition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In Hoc Signo Vinces,
Nick Miller
Consul, Fall 2011
